UDL: Instructional Design for Further and Higher Education (1-Day Course)

Description

This introductory course, limited to 20 participants, is designed to support educators in implementing Universal Design for Learning (UDL) in further and higher education settings. It covers the purpose and role of UDL in higher education, introduces core principles and foundational concepts of UDL instructional practice, and facilitates the practical application of UDL lesson design approaches. Participants will be introduced to various resources and tools aimed at removing environmental barriers that hinder learning among diverse groups of students, allowing them to reflect on their current instructional practices through a UDL lens. Join us for UDL-UKI’s inaugural course on UDL in further and higher education.

As part of their engagement with the course participants will:

  • Understand the purpose, role and value of UDL in modern further and higher education

  • Apply the foundational principles and concepts of UDL instructional design

  • Design instruction using UDL lesson design approaches and tools

  • Reflect on current instructional practices, identifying where UDL can be applied

Colleagues engaged in a wide variety of roles that involve teaching and / or support for student learning, including higher and further education teaching staff, instructional designers, student services colleagues, learning technologists, and those involved in professional learning and development.
